Welcome to my site. My name is Yogi Lakshminath Maharaj. For over 15 years I have been following the Natha Tradition, studying and practicing yoga under the guidance of my Guru – Yogi Matsyendranath Maharaj. Under the guidance of Guruji, I conduct teaching activities at Natha Yoga School, share knowledge and teach yoga in the traditional format. On this site you can find out more about me, my views and activities, about the features of the practice of Natha yoga and traditional teaching.
The practice of yoga in the Natha Tradition can include many different elements: hatha- and raja-yoga, mantras, serving the Guru, studying sacred texts, karma-yoga, etc. Natha-yogis have a rich arsenal of methods, but the main thing that distinguishes Nathas from any other school is not methods. This is a way of life and landmarks, a worldview. Nathas perceive yoga as a spiritual path – a path of development and cardinal transformation, a path of knowing one's true nature – Atman – and realizing the identity of the individual and cosmic body of the Universe.
The Atman has an eternal and supreme nature. Being the basis, the spiritual core of each person, he maintains his connection with the Absolute, with the Supreme all-pervading Consciousness, he is a part of it – just like a drop taken from the ocean remains water. Therefore Atman is always satisfied on a total level, there is no thirst for something else, because everything is there. From this, eternal bliss is born ... Yogis strive for this state, its gradually reveal and, in the end, they always abide in it.
